MEDICAL DEPARTMENT,
It may be hoped and believed that it was the prophetic as well as the poetic
spirit which caused Burns to write :
Then let us pray that come it may, as come it w ill for a that,
T hat sense and worth, o ’er a ’ the earth, may bear the gree, and a ’ that.
For a ’ that, and a ’ that, it ’s com in’ yet for a ’ that,
T hat man to man, the warld o ’er, shall
brothers
be for a ’ that.
The better day would sooner come if those who are called Christians would
cultivate the broad humanity of Abou Ben Adhem who, in his vision, said to the
Recording Angel: “ I pray thee, then, write me as one that loves his fellow men.”
