COUNTDOWN TO CENTENNIAL

The countdown to Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Centennial Celebration began with the North Atlantic Regional Conference in January 2007 and continues throughout the year, with Regional Founders Day celebrations, recognition of community leaders, parades of chapters and other activities tailored to each Region.

In a demonstration of the Alpha Kappa Alpha credo—service to all mankind—Sorority members are headed to the Big Easy, New Orleans, LA, July 14–21, 2007, to help rebuild a city in need. Giving back to this hurricane-devastated city is the best way to officially launch the countdown to our Centennial Celebration.

From the U.S. capital—the Sorority’s birthplace—more than 20,000 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha will tell our communities, the nation and the world the story of twenty women who started a movement, which changed the course of history and advanced a people. This celebration will be an unforgettable, once in a lifetime experience of a sisterhood honoring “100 Years of Service” and re-dedicating its time, talents and treasures to the vision of its Founders.
